Featured Artist: Louise Schroeder

Louise Schroeder grew up on a large family farm near Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. In her twenties, she worked as a nurse, escaping the long, cold prairie winters by traveling to warmer climates around the world. These journeys led to unforgettable adventures that continue to inspire her art.
Largely self-taught for much of her career, Louise later refined her skills through formal fine arts study. Working with acrylics on watercolor paper, she creates pieces that reflect her love of travel, storytelling, and imagination. Her whimsical, vibrant style transports viewers into colorful, faraway worlds-no passport required.
Louise has exhibited her work in numerous shows in Canada and the United States. Her work has also been featured in stage designs, murals, posters, and textbook illustrations for Saskatchewan schools.
Louise was the visual creator and illustrator of the award-winning children’s book series The Blues Go Birding and the illustrator of My Family Forever (previously titled Gone Cuckoo). She has received multiple awards for her art and books, including honors for Best Children’s Book Series.  Today, Louise enjoys country living near Austin, Texas, where she keeps chickens and continues to create. She is the proud mother of three daughters and grandmother of five, all living within the state, close enough for frequent visits that continue to inspire her life and art.
