Employee Spotlight: Calendar Team

Huge shoutout to our incredible 2026 calendar crew! David is our primary printer (and folder) for the calendar. Emma is the production manager and jumps in to help at any step, Anne jumps in to fix the things we didn’t get right on the first go around with the designer (logo changes, the 365th day that was left off, creating the backpage ad… moving titles so we don’t punch holes thru important page info…). These three carry the weight in the whole process- but as a matter of fact, our calendars produced for YOU, are the most labor-intensive project we do all year long! It’s an all-hands-on-deck process!  But from start to finish these 3 are making sure your calendars look GREAT!  (I am responsible for the 3 errors you may find later in the year, thankfully this team has agreed to be the final proofing team for the 2027 calendar!
David has been with us a couple of years. Emma has been with us about 5 years, and Anne has been with us over 1 year! We could not be prouder of them or the finished product! Please drop in and get some!

We are proud to produce the calendars in-house! Years ago we printed thousands through an offset printer, and now we print on demand as many as needed. We fit in running several hundred at a time while making sure not to miss your deadlines! David came up with an idea this year that saved some of the manual labor, and I am THRILLED about that! Way to go David!

Luci’s version of the original calendar team. The idea of Miller’s own calendar came up over a cup of coffee in 1977, just as many ideas come up today. Robert Miller, Don Collins, Jack Wilson (and others I do not recall the names of) used to take “coffee breaks” at the Greyhound Bus station in the 100 block of East 10th Street (who knew the bus station was the hot spot!).  Miller Blue Print was on the east side of the bus station and Von Beckman Jones Printing was on the west side, on the corner of Congress and 10th. The young crew at coffee represented both establishments. At that time, several Miller Blue Print vendors produced calendars that we could order with our logo and contact info for advertising purposed.  Calendars were a big deal in the 70s and 80s and manufacturers wanted theirs to be the best! Keuffel & Esser was one prime vendor of drafting and surveying instruments and supplies, and I remember them well! One month one year they had a black and white architectural drawing of a cheeseburger addressing all of the necessities with a nicely drawn arrow: bun, cheese, meat, you get it.  My father and his art buddies decided to come up with our own Miller Blue calendar featuring local artists. We had various artists provide work including local well-known artists (to be continued)
