Chris Celusniak is a Texas-based visual artist known for his intricate pen and ink illustrations and richly layered storytelling. His eclectic work draws from historical figures, vintage architecture, mythology, and the human experience, all rendered with intricate detail and layered symbolism that invite viewers to explore the deeper stories embedded in each composition.“I want to create a window on a feeling that you and I may share,” Chris says.
Originally from Houston and now based in Austin, Chris exhibits widely across Texas with ongoing representation at Art for the People (Austin), River Art Group (San Antonio), You’re Private Collection (Dallas), and Space Montrose (Houston). He also regularly participates in major regional shows, including the King William Art Fair (San Antonio), Blue Genie Art Bazaar (Austin), the Travis Heights Art Trail (Austin), and the Golden Art Fair.
From 1986 to 2017, Chris ran Christopher Design, a successful graphic design and advertising studio serving major clients in the food, entertainment, industrial, political, and banking sectors. His work has earned multiple honors, including the Houston Art Directors Club Merit Award, the Mead Award of Excellence, and selection in Print Magazine’s Regional Design Annual. He was also a featured artist at the Langdon Review of the Arts in Texas, with his work appearing on the cover. In 2025, Chris is a featured artist in CowParade San Antonio, the internationally renowned public art event showcasing artist-painted cow sculptures across the city.
Chris has illustrated several well-known publications, including the widely popular Texas Gardening the Natural Way, and has exhibited at institutions such as the Atherton Gallery (Santa Fe), Smith Gallery, and the Austin Museum of Art Gift Shop. His art was also selected for a global brewing company’s art label series.
With a decades-long career spanning illustration, graphic design, and fine art, Chris continues to create work that offers a window into shared emotion, layered storytelling, and the beautifully unexpected.
