Austin has always been a colorful city that attracts artists from around the world. Every Month Miller IDS showcases Austin’s creative energy by highlighting a resident artist and their work. We love being a trusted resource for painters, illustrators, designers, and visual artists and, in turn, show our gratitude to the talented folks that keep returning for the highest-quality prints in the city.
December 2014 Featured Artist, Andrew Cherry
Dec 2014: Beginning with the December 2014 newsletter, we will feature one of the talented Austin artists for whom Miller provides scanning and reproduction services. We’re proud to help realize the vision of many fine local artists!
This month, we highlight Andrew Cherry, an oil painter, illustrator and storyboard artist based in Austin. Andrew grew up in Houston illustrating his favorite movie scenes as a child. Classically trained in oil painting, he won the Grand Prize for his oil painting at the Houston Rodeo in 2004. Andrew studied film at Savannah College of Art and Design, where he was awarded a “Scademy” for best screenplay for his short film. He is inspired by: his dad, Dice Tsutsumi, and Lecrae.
A print of Andrew’s work “Gus”, featured here, will also be hanging in our 6th street location for the month – stop by and check it out or view his work at http://andrewcherryart.bigcartel.com/
